Meet The Team

Dr. Victor Lopez is the owner and attending mix animal veterinarian for Rio Grande Veterinary Clinic. He was raised in Luling, a small Central Texas town known for its barbecue, watermelons and soon to be the World’s largest Buc-ee’s. Dr. Lopez was born from immigrant parents and grew up in his family’s ranch where his passion for animals began. 

After Highschool Dr. Lopez pursued an associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology from Palo Alto College in San Antonio. He then continued his education in Texas State University in San Marcos where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. Dr Lopez also earned in 2015 a master’s degree in Animal Science from Texas A&M University Kingsville. In 2020 Dr. Lopez earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine in Tuskegee Alabama. Upon Graduation Doctor Lopez returned to his hometown to work for the town's local Veterinary Clinic. 

Dr. Lopez has 17 years of experience in the veterinary and livestock field. He enjoys working with livestock as well as small animals. He enjoys small animal medicine, dentistry, surgery and has experience in international cattle and equine exportation as well as livestock consulting.  

Dr. Lopez and his family have relocated to Laredo, his wife’s hometown. Dr. Lopez is married to Miriam Lopez, a high school counselor and the clinic's practice manager. They share a beautiful daughter Renata who loves all animals just like her dad. Dr. Lopez is also a Doodle dad. He has two dogs, a 12-year-old Maltipoo “Luna” and a 6-year-old Boykin Doodle “Ela”, He also has a cat named “Kitty” AKA pelusa. In his spare time Dr. Lopez enjoys grilling and spending time with his family as well as watching sports and fishing whenever he gets the time (Go Stros and Go Cowboys!). Dr Lopez and his family are blessed to call the beautiful city of Laredo HOME. He is excited to serve the community of Laredo and looks forward to being a positive role model for first generation students, and all those interested in Veterinary Medicine.
